Lakshanas of Avyakta.

LAKSHANAS OF AVYAKA.
In the practical utilization;the term Vyakta(manifested) is dedicated as the factor admissible and acceptable with sense organs and contrary to it which cannotbe perceived with senses is called Avyakta. Thus to understand the term Avyakta;it is necessary to grasp the concept of the term Vyakta;since Avyakta is described as-

Thus;Vyakta denotes appearance, clearity and evident existence. It also means manifested, distinct, visible, specified, created and developed.
According to the list of twenty five tattvas of Samkhya system;two;v.i.z.;Prakruti and Purusha are the Avyaktas, i.e., unmanifested.
The specific lakshanas or qualifications of Avyakta are as follows:-
(1)Ahetumal:-Doesnot have any cause for there production;since they are themselves the initial potential cause for the universe.
(2)Nitya(permanent):-All unmanifested elements are eternal or non-perishable.For ex:-If Purush doesnot come in contact with Prakruti leading to its unstability which further results in the creation; Prakruti will stay just as it is in the unmanifested form.
(3)Vyapi(pervading to all):-For ex:-

According to the above context;Prakruti is only one and the substratum for numerous ‘Purushas’ like the ocean, which is a substratum for numerous aquatic animals.
Thus;the unmanifested factors are all pervading;since they don’t posses the specific appearance for the selective actions.
(4)Nishkriya:-They don’t have activity on their own. They are needed tobe activated by others.
For ex:-Prakruti and Purusha;both are inactive in initial form;but when they come in contact each other;Prakruti looses its stability and further union of both takes place.
(5)Ekashruta:-They are one in number;since they are all pervading.
(6)Alinga:-They don’t persist any sign or marks;since they don’t have any distinct, visible or specified or existence or appearance.
(7)Niravayava:-For the same reason as not having distinct, visible, specified or created appearance and being all pervading;they don’t posses any parts.
(8)Swatantra:-They arenot governed by any other source;since any governing force in the universe cannot act on the uncreated or unmanifested factors.
