VATA DOSHA.
Thus we know that the body of living beings is formed by the constitutional combination of Panchamahabhutas and at the same time,we also know that the body is made up of tridoshas. Thus we can conclude with the reference that the tridoshas are made up from the panchamahabhutas. Now it is the dominanace of particular mahabhutas which differentiate one dosha from aother in it’s qualities and thus;the functions.
Thus vata dosha is formed with the dominance of vayu mahabhuta along with the akash mahabhuta. Thus it has got its particular qualities in form and functions.
The term vata is formed by the combination of pratyaya ‘ta’ to the root verb ‘va’ which indicates the motion. Thus vata indicates all the movements in the body. These motions are required to support the various reactions or activities taking place in the body which includes combination of atoms by kapha or destruction of molecules by pitta.Vata itself is responsible for any movements and thus carries kapha and pitta wherever they are required just as the clouds are carried away only with the help of wind.
#Synonyms:-Maaruta,Chala,Anila,Samirana,Marut,Pavana
#QUALITIES:-
It cannotbe seen or explained in the terms of structure;but it canbe experienced by its functions. Here the term avyakta isnot meant for as unmanifested;since we know that vata has its own indipendant existence and also the unmanifested factor don’t posses individual activities which is completely contradictory in case of vata.It cannotbe seen due to the dominance of akash whereas it canbe felt due to the dominance of vayu in it.
Ruksh(dryness),laghu(lightness),shita(coldness),khara (roughness),shukshma(minuteness) and chala(unsteady) are the qualities of Anila(vata ).
Ruksha:-________________Vata is dry in nature. This quality is opposite to the moistness. Thus it is responsible to destruction of molecules and absorption of water contents in the body
Laghu:-_________________Lightness is the quality of vata which helps it in its quick movements and carrying capacity in the body.
Shita:-__________________The shita quality over here indicates the capacity to oppose the movement.Whenever it is necessary to oppose the supply of ahar-rasa to the dead tissues(dhatu) or whenever it is necessary to maintain the excreatory materials such as sweat and heat within the body;vata opposes their normal movement.
Khara:-_________________The khara quality of vata helps in separating the dead tissues from the living ones and making way for its replacement.
Sukshma:-_______________The sukshma quality of vata helps it to travel through the microscopic channels and thus increasing it working field efficiently.
Chala:-__________________The chala quality has been explained earlier.
Yogavahi is the quality by which one object when mixed with another increases the qualities of the another object and thus increasing the rate of reaction or activity through which the another object is about to go.For ex:-Honey when mixed with the praval bhasma increases its qualities and when mixed with ginger increases its qualities. In the same way;vata exhibit its yogavahi quality as enhances coldness when mixed with kapha and hot quality with pitta.
Tiryagga:-The one who posseses horizontal movement just as fire has upwards and water has downwards direction.
