Prakruti - Vikruti.

PRAKRUTI-VIKRUTI.

Sankhya Darshana divided the 24 or chaturvimshati factors into four categories.They are:-

1)Prakruti.

2)Vikruti.

3)Prakruti-Vikruti.

4)Na prakruti-Na vikruti.

(1)Prakruti:-This is one,which will be a causative factor or karana for the creation of some other factor or karya,but it willnot have any cause or karana for its creation.There is only such factor-

*Prakruti.

(2)Vikruti:-This type of factors will be the results of some causative factors but they willnotbe the causative factors for the creation of any other factors.That means they are the karya forms only and arenot the karanas for any other karyas.There are 16 such Vikruti factors.They are the-

*Five mahabhutas.

*Eleven sensory organs or indriyas(5 Dnyanendriyas+5 Karmendriyas+1 manas).

(3)Prakruti-Vikruti:-These factors are the karyas of some factors and they are also the karanas for some other karyas.There are 7 such factors:-

*Mahat.

*Ahamkar.

*Five tanmatras.

(4)Na prakruti-Na vikruti:-This factor is one that is neither a karana for any karya nor the karya of any karana.There is only one factor that is neither a karana nor a karya-

*Purusha.
